North Anna Power Station in Mineral Virginia is looking for an Engineer II or Nuclear Engineer III in the Auxiliary Systems and Program Engineering group. The position will focus on the program side of the group, primarily Appendix-R, but may also be involved with other programs such as Maintenance Rule, MSPI, Buried Pipe, or Cathodic Protection. The individual will be responsible for maintaining up-to-date documents related to the program. The individual will be conducting reviews of design modifications that have an impact to the applicable program. This individual should be knowledgeable of Safe Shutdown Systems and the Appendix-R Program.
The position will be filled as either an Engineer II or Engineer III based on experience. The Engineer II/Engineer III is fully competent to expert level in all conventional aspects of the subject matter. Second level position in the engineering series provides engineering support in designated company area, or specific engineering discipline. Performs and/or reviews engineering calculations, analysis, research and design. Provides cost analysis as needed and develops recommendation based on calculations (e.g. cost for equipment upgrade) for management review. Distinguished from Engineer I by increased complexity in application of engineering skills required. Under direction of supervisor or work leader, exercises independence in evaluating, selecting and applying standard or well defined engineering techniques, procedures and criteria. Uses independent judgement in prioritization and making moderately complex to expertly complex adaptations and modifications.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
Engineer II: 3+ years of engineering experience plus ABET accrediting engineering degree
Nuclear Engineer Ill: 5+ years of engineering experience plus ABET accrediting engineering degree
Note for both: A partial year of related work experience of 6 months or greater will be considered one year towards the qualifications
- Prior Fire protection/Appendix R experience preferred
- Knowledge and application of engineering theories and principles, concepts, and fundamentals
- Requires developmental experience in a professional engineering position
- Competency in applying engineering principles, fundamental concepts, practices and procedures requiring some evaluation, originality and/or ingenuity to achieve project objectives
- Understands and can apply knowledge of configuration management
- Ability to perform engineering calculations using applicable software programs (e.g. Matlab, Excel, etc.)
- Planning, organizational and project management skills
- Ability to develop and exercise leadership skills
- Effective decision making skills
- Effective oral and written communication skills (includes technical writing)
- Ability to think analytically and solve complex problems
- Ability to interpret codes, regulations and practices
- Equally effective working independently or in a team environment
- Ability to process information quickly and effectively manage multiple tasks

REQUIRED ENGINEERING CRITERIA:
•For placement of a candidate in the Engineer job series, the following criteria must be met:
Possess a 4-year engineering degree from an ABET accredited engineering program based on the year that the engineering program was accredited by ABET, or
Possess a 4-year engineering degree from an institution outside of the U.S. which is accredited through the country's own engineering accrediting body under the Washington Accord as a full signatory, and is a degree that was recognized by the country's accrediting body on or after the date that full signatory status was achieved, or
Possess a 4-year engineering degree from a non-ABET accredited program and a postgraduate engineering degree from an institution where the undergraduate degree in the same engineering discipline is ABET accredited based on the year the engineering program was accredited by ABET, or
Possess a 4-year degree in Physics, Chemistry, Math or Engineering Technology and a post-graduate engineering degree from an institution where the undergraduate degree in the same engineering discipline is ABET accredited based on the year the engineering program was accredited by ABET, or
Holds or has previously held a valid U.S. Professional Engineer license.
