Position Summary: The Battery Shop Technician is responsible for the testing, maintaining, and repairing of Aircraft Lead Acid and Ni-Cad Batteries per OEM specifications and maintaining logs in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA); European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and Transport Canada (TCAA) requirements.

Primary Responsibilities:

Battery Charging: 75%

* Servicing, inspections, and repairs of Aircraft Batteries in accordance with the OEM, and customer requirements. (Ni-cd Batteries, Sealed Lead Acid Batteries, and Emergency Battery Packs).
* Solve practical tasks and deal with a variety of changing situations.
* Maintain accurate records of work performed.
* Perform Quality Control inspections.
* Effectively communicate with management, peers, and external parties.
* Maintain accurate stock levels of materials needed in the battery charging process.
* Coordinate movement of batteries as needed for charging and after charging.
* Perform additional tasks & responsibilities as required.
* Comply with all Federal Aviation regulations, company operations manual, operations. specifications, standard operating procedures, and company policies & procedures.

Area and Process Improvement: 15%

* Maintain general housekeeping and cleanliness standards.
* Apply 5S to work area to improve organization and workflow.
* Work as part of multidisciplinary teams to correct or improve procedures.
* Identify, develop, and implement process improvements.

Additional Responsibilities:

Education:

* High School diploma or equivalent.
* Trade schools.

Experience:

* Minimum of 5 to 10 years' experience in mechanical maintenance and troubleshooting.

* Be able to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and written work

Physical Requirements:

* Vision:Adequate to enter and read material on computer screens or controls on machines, lathes, etc. Able to identify individuals to initiate greetings, giving of directions, and other business interactions
* Hearing:Able to hear sufficiently to engage in conversation Able to hear safety alerts and warning signals.
* Speaking:Able to engage in conversations in person and via electronic means and deliver information to groups of varying sizes with or without amplification.
* EquipmentOperation: Able to operate a personal computer, telephone, copier, fax machine, and related office equipment and using electronic identification card to enter building floors and internal doors.
* Carrying:Able to occasionally carry up to 20lbs/9kg while engaging in training, addressing production issues, or as part of continuous improvement
* Lifting:Able to occasionally lift up to 50lbs/23kg.
* Pushing/Pulling:Able to push/pull items in office areas and on the shop
* Sitting:Able to sit for extended periods of time at the computer and in
* Squatting/Kneeling:Able to occasionally squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items shelved on bottom
* Standing:Able to stand for extended periods of time while
* Travel/Mobility:Able to travel overseas and domestically sometimes for extended periods of time and on short
* Walking:Able to walk through office and production areas, around flight line and airstrips, and sometimes on uneven indoor or outdoor surfaces other business interactions
