Energy audit bait and switch

Published by: Neal on 31st Jul 2010 | View all blogs by Neal
My home energy audit on Friday was very, very disappointing.

I started very excited, and ordered a basic energy audit from www.sre3.com, a Gridpoint company.  The site advertised a 41 point visual inspection of my home.

Come to find out I basically paid $149 for a salesman to come try and sell me a $950 solar attic fan and $1500 of insulation.  When he arrived, he didn't even know which energy audit I ordered, nor did he have checklist.

He didn't even mention the lighting (I guess he doesn't sell light CFLs), nor did he check the weatherstripping until I asked.  And I don't even think he took notes, let alone a written inspection report.  He did promise me a quote on Monday though :(.  .  My wife says it serves me right for ordering an energy audit from a contracting firm.

I will contact the firm after getting the quote and see what response I get.
