My name is John-Peter “JP” Dolphin; in May I graduated from Duke University majoring in Political Science, with distinction in "Energy and the Environment Studies” from the Pratt School of Engineering. The maintenance of the environment through implementing new technology and policy is my true passion. I moved to San Francisco to pursue a career that would fulfill this passion. Jpdolphin10@gmail.com Recent Work Experience Silicon Valley Leadership Group – Energy Coordinator June 2010 – Present San Jose, CA Analyze the potential impact of proposed legislation and other government action on 300+ member organizations (Google, PG&E, Apple, Stanford, Lockheed Martin, SAP, etc.). Propose policy recommendations as well as write opinion editorials which advocate innovative solutions designed to maintain Silicon Valley’s position as a leader in the 21st century. – Available Policy Memos: Prop 23, AB 32, S.3738, H.R.5766 and more. Duke Univ. Alumni Assoc. – Office of Special Events Student Intern Feb. 2007 – May 2010 Durham, NC Worked year round, aiding in planning and running of events of all types (Trustee meetings, Homecoming, etc.) and sizes (20 – 5,000+ attendees). Worked with caterers and event staff to reduce and eliminate problems. Also served as liaison between Alumni Association and honored guest, including 'Big Swing and The Ballroom Dancers', Robert Redford and University President Richard Broadhead. Duke Carbon Offset Initiative – Researcher & Developer Summer 2009 Durham, NC Part of a five member team which, through in-depth research and meetings with farmers, environmentalist and policy experts, developed and initiated a Swine Methane Capture Program. This system reduces greenhouse gas emissions, creates alternative energy via harvesting methane and improves animal as well as human health conditions. Extracurricular Activities Boy Scouts of America Triple Gold Palm Eagle Scout 2 term Senior Patrol Leader 65+ merit badges Over 1800 community service hours WERC Design Contest Awarded national prize in April 2009 for “Most Innovative Design.” In conjunction with 9 other students designed and constructed a device which uses a horizontal windmill’s mechanical energy to filter unpotable water.
